2004, a meeting with Hugh and Martin
In 2004, I met the French double bass player Martin Gruet, and we had fun playing a couple of times. We were chatting about jazz in Ireland, and I was expressing my admiration for the Buckleys when he mentioned the possibility of organising something the next year, since he actually knew Hugh.
After several emails, we finally reached our goal on 19th May, 2005, when we also played with the German drummer George Urich.
It was a very valuable meeting. Apart from the music, there had been ‘good vibes’ from the very beginning, which brought about friendship and projects for Following the year.
